How YouTube Taught Me to Visualize My Story
In high school, I was always a writer. I loved to capture my thoughts and feelings on paper, in journals, and even in short stories. But when it came to taking those thoughts and turning them into pictures or videos, well that just wasn’t my thing. I had no idea how to do it.
That’s where YouTube came in. When I was a sophomore in college, my best friend told me about this website called YouTube. She said that anyone could upload any type of video they wanted, and that there were millions of people out there watching them. And she was right – I found myself watching hundreds of different types of videos on the platform.
Some of them were funny; others were educational; but most importantly, they all helped me learn new things. For example, one video showed how to make origami animals. Another showed how to make a simple quilt. And finally, another demonstrated how to make a cake using an almond sponge recipe from scratch.
As I watched these videos and learned new skills, something started to change inside of me – I started seeing myself as a creator instead of a consumer. Suddenly, I wanted to learn more about video editing software and sound editing programs so that I could start making my own videos!
YouTube has taught me so much over the years – not only about video creation techniques, but also about critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities. In other words, YouTube has helped me develop not just

In the early days of YouTube, there were no educational videos. If you wanted to learn how to do something, you had to watch a million video tutorials and figure it out for yourself. This was fine for getting started with a new skill, but it wasn’t ideal for complex tasks or for learning about concepts that you didn’t immediately have access to.
Entertaining and informative videos were the order of the day on YouTube. But as the site grew more popular, creators started to experiment with different types of content. Some created video essays about complex topics, others made short films about interesting people or interesting events, and still others created instructional videos on specific skills or techniques.
But what if you wanted to learn something that wasn’t specifically covered in one of these categories? What if you wanted to create your own video essay or short film? Or what if you just wanted to learn a new skill without having to search through hours of content?
That’s where visualization comes in. Visualization is the process of mentally constructing a picture or sequence of pictures in your head so that you can better understand or remember information. It’s important enough that it’s been studied and taught in its own right as an educational tool, and it’s even more important when it comes to learning new skills or concepts.
When you visualize information, you’re able to see it in greater detail than if you just read about it or listened to someone else tell you about it. And this is

bruce springsteen we take care of our own youtube
In the fall of 2009, I was out of a job and feeling pretty down. I’d been laid off from my previous job after 9 years of service, and my savings had dwindled down to nothing. Then one day, I happened to stumble across a video of Bruce Springsteen performing “We Take Care of Our Own” on YouTube. It was just him and his guitar, and it was really beautiful. I found myself watching it over and over again, and eventually I decided that I wanted to learn how to play the song myself.
So I started looking for lessons online, and eventually I found one that would work with me. The first thing we did was practice the basic chords, and then we worked on the melody. It took a few months but eventually I was able to play the song pretty well.
But things didn’t stop there. After I learned how to play “We Take Care of Our Own” on my own, I wanted to learn more songs like it. So I started looking for other Bruce Springsteen songs that I could learn how to play. And guess what? There were tons of them!
